The National Centre for Research and Development has launched an industry program called INNOCHEM. Its purpose it to provide financing of innovative projects in the chemical sector.
INNOCHEM has been inaugurated as a part of Intelligent Development Operating Program on initiative of Polish entrepreneurs and based on a feasibility study submitted on their behalf by the Polish Chamber of the Chemical Industry. The aim of the program is the support R&D projects in given sectors of the economy.
The program shall support innovative projects connected with manufacturing basic products of the chemical industry, including resources excavation, new technologies and so-called “horizontal areas”, which are connected with current process optimization and low emissions technologies. The main target of INNOCHEM is to help chemical companies get better at generating innovative solutions, in close cooperation with research institutions and universities. The ultimate goal is not only to improve the competitive advantage of Polish chemical sector on international markets, but also to reinforce Poland’s position as innovation leader in the world.
Opportunity for the sector
Companies as well as consortia made up of smaller entities may apply to become Program beneficiaries. The funds transferred via the program can support both the ongoing research projects as well as the ones being planned. The National Centre for Research and Development has allocated 120 million PLN to financing projects in the first INNOCHEM competition lot.
For Poland, INNOCHEM is a program which can help domestic economy grow by boosting innovation in the chemical sector. Up to now, Poland has lacked an industry program which could offer companies from the sector the support of innovative projects on this scale. The program also aims at increasing the sum of means allocated to R&D and innovation activity of chemical companies.
Grupa Azoty ZAK S.A. is going to take part in the program, and we are placing a few submissions in February 2016.
